Letting some steam out…

Any guy, no strike that, ANYONE who is on their own and doing their own laundry (college students *cough*):

ALWAYS…ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS CHECK YOUR POCKETS before you turn the washing machine or dryer on.

Now to the story of why I’m fuming.

First of all, there are a couple thousand people living in my dorm trying to use like…20 washers and dryers…smaaarrrttttt. Secondly, no one, and I mean no one, gets their clothes out on time. So there will be times when there are no machines empty, yet there are 6 washing machines with clothes that are clean and yet no one is taking them out of the washing machines.

So sometimes, being a nice person, I take their clothes out, put them in the dryer, then turn the dryer on. Sometimes, like today, I just put them in a dryer because I’m mad and I don’t feel like being all that nice to them.

In the last washing machine I decided to use today, some guy left a PACK OF GUM in his pants. GROSS! I sat there trying to get all the gum off so I could use the machine, while there are people coming up behind me wanting me to go faster so they can use a fricken machine. I almost felt like writing a nasty note to the guy saying, “Here, you left this…maybe you still want it?” But, I’m just fuming about it to the public instead. Maybe not such a great idea, but I am calming down.

And now, I’m going to go check on my laundry that way no one can write a nasty blog entry about me.

I used to be one of those people who always took their laundry out on time…until your blog cursed me. I had the lovely experience of some impatient person placing my wet clothes on the perpetually filthy top of the washer. Thankfully, they were thoughtful enough to place a plastic bag from the equally dirty if not dirtier floor between my clothes and that disgusting machine. The thought of someone’s unsanitary hands touching my towels and underwear was almost enough to make me be a jerk and put my clothes back in for a second cycle. Moral of the story: doing laundry in the dorms should qualify as cruel and unusual punishment.
