So I was thinking about this when I was at Taco Bell today. I always get the same thing at Taco Bell, maybe a little deviation from the norm, but for the most part I always get a cheese quesadilla. Today, I added a bean burrito (work didn’t give me a lunch break…I was making up for lost…food…), but that’s not the point.
The point is that I’ve always wanted to go somewhere where they knew who I was. I don’t usually “mix things up,” so if they knew who I was, they’d know my usual order. Basically, I’d like to be a cast member on Cheers. I’ve never had that. I tried once in elementary school. We always had the same lunch ladies, so I tried telling her when she asked me what I wanted, “The usual, please.” She just looked at me and then asked me again. It was a sad experience.
I know my mom is well-known at a few different starbucks in the metro detroit area. Does anyone else have a place where they walk in and are greeted by smiles and familiar faces with good memories?

Ah, but they don’t know my name, and I never have “the usual.”
Those Baristas as Starbuck’s are pretty amazing.

Qdoba in Ann Arbor. I haven’t quite gotten to the point where I can get “the usual” since there seems to be a fair bit of turnover in the people who actually make the food, but the managers and more permanent people know who I and the other ners kids are. When we don’t go for a while they ask us where we’ve been and they used to joke about us coming in like every other day. Sadly I hardly ever go anymore. *Tear* But yeah, it’s pretty sweet.

Revzwife-I’ve seen it before. A barista saw you, got out a venti cup of your favorite blend. It was sweet. Even if they don’t know your name, I’m sure they know a lot about your life.
Steve- I miss Qdoba!!!!! And there’s one right down the road, there’s no excuse!!! Maybe I’m afraid to try a Qdoba that isn’t in Ann Arbor…
Andorinha- I think we just want to be known! Is that so much to ask? I think not… It’s funny, I used to hate Taco Bell. Then I got to college and realized I could dine for less than 2 dollars and be full for days…Yeah, taco bell is amazing!

almost had this working for me at a Quizno’s near my work out here in Calif. They don’t know my name…but a couple workers always smile and are friendly. But i change what I buy a lot. I change where I go all the time too. i get bored with stuff easily.
but it’s always tough here in the city of a billion people.
blessings.
